Coconut Oil is the new rave among us humans. It helps
increase metabolism, it is less likely
to clog our arteries than butter or olive oil, and it works
wonders on fungal infections,
sunburns, and dry skin.
What is not to love about Coconut oil?
What makes coconut oil rave-worthy to humans
applies to dogs and cats too!
Coconut oil consists of 90% saturated fats, most of
Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCTs). MOST of the
beneficial qualities found in coconut oil come
from these MCTs. Lauric acid is a main component
(about 40%) of the MCTs,
followed by capric acid, caprylic acid, myristic
acid and palmitic acid.
Lauric acid is exceptionally helpful,
it contains antibacterial,
antiviral, and anti-fungal properties.
Capric and Caprylic acids have similar
properties but are
best known for their anti-fungal effects.
Coconut Oil is popularized to humans for it’s
ability to help improve digestion and metabolism
as well as increase energy. MCTs are to blame!
MCT’s are efficiently metabolized to provide an
immediate source of energy and fuel. This means balance
to the thyroid! So all those overweight or lazy dogs/cats
out there will feel a change in weight and energy.
Many people mix coconut oil with their dog or cats food,
while others use it topically. Both options provide for wonderful
outcomes; improved skin and coat, immune system support,
improved digestion, allergy relief, illness prevention)
Below are a few reasons to look into using coconut oil in your animals life.
IMMUNE SYSTEM AND BONE HEALTH
********Coconut oil is a MUCH more
sustainable and much
less toxic source of oils than Fish.***********

“A wild wolf in genetically little more distant from the domesticated dog than a wild mustang is to a quarter horse”
–> That is to say that just because our dogs are domesticated does not mean that we should feed them food so drastically different from what they would eat in the wild. Raw meat diet (or a raw meat/kibble/etc. combination diet) can help to bridge the gap between domestication and a wild dog diet.

Prepared Frozen Raw Food:
Freeze dried raw foods are an easy way to feed raw.
Raw Food Diet can be EASY – it does not have to be scary and difficult. This diet is not for every dog, but even a little raw meat/raw veggies can be GREAT for your dog or cat. Sometimes all they need is a variety and some change in their diet. Keep these facts in mind – pick and choose what works best for you and your dog. Trade some kibble here and there for a small slab of chicken.
If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask!

We, the women of Wag!, love our “stuffer” toys for our pups. We use the Bionic toys – but there are lots of options out there (Kong, Pickle Pockets, etc.).
How do you use your stuffer toy? Everyday feedings? Boredom alleviation? Fun mind game? Distraction while vacuuming?
There are many great ways to use a stuffer toy – and MANY great things to stuff it with!
There is no rule that you HAVE to feed your dog kibble twice a day from a bowl – you are allowed to mix it up and keep it interesting for your pup!
We recommend a “calorie exchange,” which simply means exchanging some of the kibble you serve everyday for something else! At the end of the day calories are calories – so mix it up! Give your pups some caloric-variety!
Wet food, canned pumpkin, cottage cheese, plain yogurt
You may want to freeze any of the stuffer options to decrease the amount of mess and increase the amount of time it takes the dog to work through the toy.
All of the stuff-able items listed above can be frozen for a longer lasting effect.
Dogs are natural opportunistic foragers and hunters! They need variety just like we do! It can also be very good for dogs to feel as though they are working for their food – the stuffer toy feeding method can be a great outlet for that “hunting instinct.”
Hendersonville, NC is home to “Off the Chain” which is a local organization that promotes the banning of 24/7 chaining of dogs in Henderson County. “Off the Chain” simultaneously takes huge strides in greatly improving the lives of chained animals by providing proper fencing, shelter, water, and hand delivering food. But they can’t do it alone! “Off the Chain” always needs good quality food for the dogs and volunteers for putting up fencing. Food is delivered to dogs whose owners are incapable/unable to purchase food themselves (for various reasons). Quality food is very important for the (sometimes/quite often) malnourished and ill-taken care of chained dogs!
Wag! is offering our customers the chance to purchase for or “donate”** these items to “Off the Chain” through us!
How you might ask??
The customer can look at a sheet of items, decide what to donate, purchase it (at a Discounted price of 25%), and Wag! will deliver! So easy! Please look below at all of the products and help where you can 🙂
